Summary Background
It is estimated that Hitler's
machine, during the Word War II, killed some 6
million Poles:
some 3 million Catholic
Poles --that were killed because they were considered
to be subversive to the Nazi regime, and
another 3 million Jewish Poles --that were killed
solely for the reason that they were Jews.
Yet, as astonishing as it may
sound, there is nowhere on the face of this Earth, a
Memorial Monument commemorating the 6 million civilian
Polish victims of the Nazi regime. That in Poland there
is no National Monument commemorating and honoring its 6
million Polish citizen victims speaks volumes of the
national character and moral conscience of that nation.
Yes, there are many Holocaust memorials in Poland related
to a particular event of the Holocaust or of a particular
Concentration Camp, but no National Monument exists
anywhere for Poland's 6 million citizens that
perished during the Holocaust era. How could a nation
ignore the memory of its 6 million citizens perished
during the Holocaust era, is indeed beyond human
comprehension.
Poland's lack of a National
Monument for its World War II civilian victims is
not at all accidental and, it is rooted in that country's
powerful anti-Semitic sentiments and roots that were
implanted and cultivated to flourish like perhaps no
other place on Earth. There is no way that today's Poland
would have the "stomach" for digesting the idea for a
Collective Memorial where Jews and Catholics could be
placed under one single "roof."

Purpose and Goal of the Polish
Memorial Drive
It is the purpose of the Polish Memorial Drive to
- first and foremost rise the level of awareness of
the absence of this long overdue commemoration of the
6 million Polish victims of the
World War II;
and
- second, to see whether we can engage the United
Nations and perhaps various Polish-American
organizations from the United States for the creation
of a Memorial Monument for the 6 million Polish
civilian victims that have perished during the
war..

Argument
It is clear, beyond any doubt, that the time has long
came for the world to recognize and pay the due respect
to the civilian Polish victims of
World War II. If Poland
is incapable of a creating a National Monument for its 6
million citizens killed during the war, let the world
through the guidance and auspices of the United Nations
create such a Memorial. We need to do this because the
world's conscience will dictate us
to do so, because we need to remember yesterday to
educate for today, and because we need to preserve
tomorrow for our children and beyond.
